Keitany through her lawyer had pleaded with the court to adjourn the hearing claiming she could not continue with her cross examination following the death of Senator Linturi’s father on Monday.
Through her lawyer Danstan Omari, Marianne Keitany, the former chief of staff in the Office of the Deputy President, requested trial magistrate Peter Gisora to adjourn her cross examination to allow her time to mourn Mzee Linturi.
The application however was objected by Senator Linturi’s lawyers saying they were ready to proceed with the case.
They also dismissed Keitany’s claims that she constructed a house for the senator’s father in Meru County and added that the late Linturi senior was unhappy because of the allegations that Keitany built him a house when he has sons and daughters.
In the case Keitany accuses Senator Linturi of neglecting her and unlawfully claiming her properties among them land titles which she claims the legislator, used as security to secure bank loans. The case continues on Wednesday 4th September.
