Newly sworn-in governor Hillary Barchok on Tuesday, November 12, addressed a letter to the County Assembly of Bomet presenting the name and credentials of assembly speaker, Mr. Shadrack Rotich for consideration as his new deputy governor.
Barchok ascended to the gubernatorial seat in August following the demise of Joyce Laboso in July 2019.
On August 3, leaders from around the country graced Fort Ternan, Kisumu, for the send-off of the late governor Joyce Laboso.
As a tribute to the late governor, a section of the leaders led by His Excellency Raila Odinga called upon the current Governor Barchok to honor Laboso by appointing a woman deputy governor.

Ngilu urged women to unite arguing that they will never be given leadership as demanded on the two- thirds gender rule on a silver platter.
“In the future, we will be electing women, but give the Bomet a woman deputy to us now”
But when Governor Barchok was given the opportunity to speak, He promised to deliver on the wishes of the late governor.
He also promised to engage Kisumu Governor to have a project done in respect to the late governor Joyce Laboso in Koru.
