State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena has assured the nation that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his family are safe despite four State House staff testing positive.
In a statement released to media houses Monday afternoon, the results were part of the regular testing carried out as proactive measures to contain the spread of the virus.
”State House would like to inform Kenyans that His Excellency the President and the First Family are safe and free from Covid-19.” Read part of the statement.
Ms Dena revealed that the four officers were admitted at the Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital in Kiambu County for treatment while a special team had been dispatched to attend to their families and close friends.
Ms Dena also said that extra access protocols have been roled out at State House to strengthen the containment of Covid- 19. Despite the increasing number of infections in the country, State House has been holding a large number of delegations with over 200 Members of Parliament recently visiting the compound. The Madaraka Day celebrations which were held in the compound also saw a number of dignitaries attend although strict measures were put in place.
