Renowned Luo musician Lady Maureen’s mother has strongly dismissed rumors going around that her daughter is dead.
Reports of the demise of the celebrated Ohangla artists went viral in the early morning hours of Tuesday.
Maureen Achieng’s fans set the internet ablaze with condolence messages to give solace to her family. The news was fuelled by renowned blogs that broke the tragedy.
However, the musician’s mother, Margaret Akinyi, has come out to refute the rumors insisting that her daughter is alive and doing well.
Margaret also dismissed earlier reports that her daughter was away in Tanzania where she was receiving treatment after failed attempts in Kenyan facilities. According to her, Lady Maureen is recuperating at home and is showing good progress.
“Watu wamep[ost ameaga nab ado mtu ako mzima. Nashindwa ni nini inaendelea. She is at home recuperating although she can’t talk on the phone for long,” said Margaret Akinyi.
The Ohangla maestro has been indisposed for two years now and has been taken in and out of the hospital on several occasions. Singer Akothee has been leading fellow musicians to assist the 36-year old after she fell sick.
