Former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has ditched the Wiper Party vowing to support Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.
“I am still working to ensure DP William Ruto becomes the 5th president of the Republic of Kenya, “said the former legislator.
According to the firebrand politician, his decision was informed by the uncertainty that currently rings the Ukambani future politics. Muthama blamed the uncertainty on Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, insisting that the former vice president had already forfeited his presidential ambition for another candidate.
Muthama’s pronouncements come just a few days after the Wiper Party gave him a show-cause notice over alleged party infidelity.
Mr. Muthama has recently been seen to be warming up to DP Ruto’s side prompting a notice of gross misconduct and insubordination from the party’s chairperson Chirau Ali Mwakwere.
“He is off track and is doing things the party cannot stomach. No one has actually given him that role of speaking on behalf of the party,” said the chairperson.
Wiper Party is the latest to raise a whip on its disloyal members following in the footsteps of the ruling party Jubilee and opposition ODM. The ruling party has led a purge in the country’s political arena dewhipping most of its members from parliamentary leadership in both the National Assembly and Senate.
