The Amani National Congress (ANC) Party offices in Kakamega County have this morning been set ablaze by unknown people. According to unconfirmed reports, important party documents, including last election winning results, have been burnt in the process.
This comes two days after the party expelled Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala from its membership over gross misconduct.
According to a statement that was sent to the media houses, the party accused Malala of disloyalty and subsequent sidelining of the party and its activities.
“The party has decided to expel Senator Malala after deliberations with the National Governing Council. The senator has been prejudicing the activities of the party and has been disloyal” read part of the statement.
Malala has for a long time been on the receiving end from party members who accuse him of pushing rival ODM’s agenda including campaigning for an opponent in the Kibra by-election. During the by-elections, Kakamega ANC branch officials had written to the National Executive Council demanding the removal of the Senator.
