Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has led Kenyans and fans in mourning the death of popular Ohangla Musician Maureen Achieng well known as Lady Maureen who died at her cousin’s house in Migori.
Lady Maureen’s cousin Bella Achieng, who she was residing with at Awendo, confirmed that the songbird succumbed to her illness on Saturday at 3.12 am.
The opposition leader took to his social media pages to remember the 36-year-old as a dynamic hitmaker who always adapted to the changing trends of the industry.
“My condolences go out to the family, friends, and fans of Lady Maureen. Achieng’ was immensely talented and very dynamic; always adapting to new trends in a very competitive music industry. May she Rest In Eternal Peace,” said Raila Odinga.
Lady Maureen had composed many praise songs that were used on campaign trails by the seasoned politician. Other politicians who joined in the mourning of the late musician include Siaya Senator James Orengo.
“ My heart goes out to the family, friends and fans of the Queen of Ohangla, Lady Moureen. “When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure” we shall all miss her voice and sight but never from our hearts as we listen to her inspiring and educative music,” wrote the Senate Minority Leader.
The musician has been struggling with illness for nearly two years and has been in and out of hospital wards. She was recently admitted to Pastor Machage Memorial Hospital on the outskirts of Migori before she was discharged to live with her cousin in Awendo.
