A garbage truck driver was on Thursday night shot dead by unknown killers along the busy Thika Highway.
According to the reports, the incident occurred around 10:00 pm when the driver who is only identified as Maina was waiting for his truck to be littered with the garbage along Thika Road.
Police reports and witnesses said that the gunman had an Ak 47 riffle and shot the truck driver six times before getting into the car that had been trailing the truck from the City Centre.
Maina had driven the truck and parked it at the Utalii Tunnel where he was waiting for his colleagues to fill the truck with collected litter when a salon car pulled behind the truck.
According to the witnesses who survived the incident said that the gunman pulled out of the salon car and walked to where the truck was parked and shot Maina six times and ran back to the car and speed off.
The other six men who were collecting the garbage escaped unharmed during the attack.
Police officers visited the crime scene and collected about six spent cartridges and also questioned the witnesses who accepted that they had picked the trash from the City Centre and were headed towards Kasarani’s direction.
William Sirengo, The Starehe’s police boss they’re eager to know the motive of the shooting.
The police boss said that Maina’s body was moved to the morgue and that it seems the gang’s intention was to eliminate the deceased.
The police launched an investigation over the incident.
