In what may seem like last-minute blows to the Azimio La Ummoja coalition. Another top leader from the former Prime Minister camp has ditched him to join the Deputy President side Kenya Kwanza today joining the list that is getting longer day by day.
Following the departure of Mike Sonko with his Kisauni member of parliament counterpart Ali Mbogo just a few days ago.
Raila Odinga wakes up to another shock today as another leader on his side has ditched him to join William Ruto.
Josiah Maaga who was the running mate of Sam Ongeri in the Kisii gubernatorial race on the DAP-K party ticket has ditched Ongeri and Azimio to join Kenya Kwanza.
Speaking to journalists, Maaga told journalists that his decision was mostly influenced by the Bamachoge elders who advised him to shift camps. “I don’t have the power to make such a decision, I was only to deputies Ongeri with the same community that sent me there” he stated.
Maaga even went ahead to state that Ongeri was already losing the race as his campaigns lack vigour “His campaign has largely been shoddy and lacking vigour”.
“We were already losing that’s why I accept this decision to withdraw me from him so that we support Machogu.” He continued.
Maaga move came when Sam Ongeri was in a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta at Kisii state lodge. Maaga announced that he will be supporting UDA’s candidate Ezekiel Machogu for Kisii governorship and William Ruto for President. This is the second blow to the 84yrs old Sam Ongeri in his bid to be the top man in Kisii County.
