A robbery suspect was on Tuesday shot dead by the police while two others escaped following a fire exchange with police.
The robber who was with the other two accomplices had staged a robbery at the South B’s Trans Towers building when three officers who were on patrol within the area got wind of the incident.
The officers responded and opened fire after the suspects defied their orders and opened fire on them.
“A manhunt then ensued as the three officers in a hatchback combed the area in search of the suspects who were operating on a motorbike. After an hour without any success, they parked their vehicle by a perimeter wall surrounding one of the buildings and switched off its lights, camouflaging the dark versatile beast that is synonymous with detectives hunting down dangerous criminals in the city,” DCI Said.
According to the police report, A corporal Okello who led the heist shouted at the suspects repeatedly to surrender but the suspects who were escaping on foot opened fire on them, deflating one of the front tires of the police vehicle.
