BangBet Limited has once again demonstrated its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility by organizing a festive food donation event for widows and orphans in Makueni County. The event, which took place at Kako Comprehensive School, saw over 1,000 beneficiaries receive essential food items to help them celebrate the holiday season.
Reverend Dr. Jane Makau, Chairperson of the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB), led the event. A native of the Kako area, Dr. Makau emphasized the importance of supporting women, particularly widows, who often carry the responsibility of raising families on their own. “Widows are the bedrock of our communities. By supporting them, we are investing in the future of our society,” she said.
Dr. Makau praised BangBet for their generous donation, noting that the company’s commitment to CSR sets a positive example for other businesses. “BangBet’s support for widows and orphans in this community is a testament to their dedication to giving back. This food donation will bring joy and relief to many families this Christmas,” she added.
BangBet’s Manager, David Gichuhi, highlighted the company’s dedication to supporting vulnerable groups through their CSR initiatives. “Our CSR efforts are about more than just business; they are about making a real difference in the lives of the people who support us. Today’s event is a reflection of our commitment to social responsibility,” said Gichuhi.
In addition to the food donations, BangBet also contributed to the construction of a borehole at Kako Comprehensive School, in partnership with the BCLB. This project will provide clean water to both the school and the surrounding community, addressing a critical need in the region.
The event attracted several high-profile attendees, including Principal Secretary for Devolution, Teresia Mbaika Malokwe, and the President’s Advisor on Women’s Rights, Hon. Harriette Chiggai. Both officials commended BangBet for their continued support of vulnerable groups and urged other companies to engage in similar CSR activities.
As the event concluded, the widows and orphans expressed their gratitude for the generous donations, with many saying that the food packages would help them celebrate Christmas with dignity and joy. BangBet’s CSR initiatives continue to uplift communities and set a strong example for other businesses in Kenya.
