The United Democratic Alliance party on Tuesday, March 15, unveiled Tycoon Jimi Wanjingi during Deputy President William Ruto’s ”big day”.
Wanjigi, a former Orange Democratic Movement ODM stalwart and an ally of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, last week cut ties with Odinga after he was denied entry at the ODM Delegates conference at Kasarani. He was even chased away by ODM supporters.
Wanjigi later joined Safina party where he announced his presidential bid under the Paul Muite’s led party.
But today, he was among the 6 special ”guest” who graced the UDA NDC. Others who were welcome as the ”special Guest” are Chama Cha Kazi leader and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Former Kiambu Governor and Tujibebe Wakenya party leader William Kabogo and Former Agriculture Minister Mwangi Kiunjuri.
Moses Wetangula and ANC Boss Musalia Mudavadi were also unveiled as special guest.
However its not clear if Wanjigi, Kiunjuri and Kabogo have signed a coalition agreement with UDA or just attended the NDC as invited guest.
The UDA NDC has officially endorsed William Ruto as his presidential candidate for the coming general election.
The deputy president was picked as the most preferred candidate ahead of Ms Tracy Wanjiru, a Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology student, and Mr Japhnel Orina.
