A tourist from Denmark has been accused of stealing household items valued at Sh84, 000 at an apartment in Kilimani, Nairobi, after spending a good time with a woman at the rented address.
Dennis Paw Rasmussen, Denmark national was arrested and accused of stealing two towels, a sound bar, and utensils from one Francisca Diffu on September 4th, 2022 at a rented apartment in Kilimani Nairobi County, contrary to section 268 of the penal code as read with section 275 of the criminal procedure code.
He was accused of stealing with his Kenyan lover who is still on the run.
The two love birds had rented the apartment in mid-August from Francisca Diffu, and when she went to check on them and also to demand the arrears on September 4th only to find out that they had vanished without settling the arrears.
Upon getting into the house, Ms. Diffu realized that a few items were missing from the apartment.
She tried to reach out to them to return the items but she could not able to, she was forced to report the matter to the Kilimani Police station.
Rasmussen, who had traveled all the way from Denmark to come and meet his Kenyan woman was arrested at the local bar in Kilimani after she was spotted by Riffu.
It is reported that he told the court he ran out of money and was waiting for his parents to send him money to settle his pending bills of more Ksh100,000.
He could not tell where his woman had disappeared after she realized that he had run out of money.
He denied all the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate William Tullen and was released on a cash bail of Ksh 100,000 and an alternative bond of Ksh300,000.
The case will be mentioned on September 22 for a pre-trial and fixing of the hearing.
