Turkish investor Harun Aydin who was deported by former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration after he was linked to terrorist activity in the country.
Mr. Aydin was spotted in State House Nairobi on September 13th, 2022 hours after former Deputy President William Ruto was sworn as the President Of the Republic of Kenya.
Aydin who was deported in 2021 August was part of the team that was traveling with Ruto to Uganda on August 2, 2021, when they were blocked from leaving the country.
Ruto was dramatically stopped from boarding a flight to Uganda for ‘not seeking clearance’.
The former Deputy President was supposed to travel to Uganda for an unknown business mission in Entebbe Uganda accompanied by several politicians and businessmen.
The Deputy President team went ahead and travel to Uganda leaving him behind after he was not given authority to leave the country.
The Turkish businessman was arrested and taken to Anti-Terror Police Nairobi offices on Ngong road where he was detained over terrorist links.
Deputy President defended Aydin as a reputable businessman whom he helped to secure a Ksh15 billion loan to set up a business in Uganda.
“Turkish investor, Aydin Harun, is a victim of top-down arrogance bred by patronage and cartels that criminalize enterprise. Importers’ goods declared contraband, African spirits closed, Keroche harassed, now an investor with valid papers labeled a terrorist. The tragedy of political pettiness,” he said.
