Speaking to the media Thursday 4th August, the Deputy President said that police are being used to sabotage part of their campaigns, he noted this was not the first time the government was denying them a venue, Ruto said that a few days ago, they were denied a permit to use Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega and Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi County.
“There’s an attempt by our competitors to lock us out of venues for meetings. Last week it was Bukhungu Stadium,” he said.
Kenya Kwanza was barred from using the Tononoka grounds as President Uhuru Kenyatta will be in Mombasa and he intends to use it, however, the Kenya Kwanza team insists that today’s campaign will go on as planned.
“Some people are using the police to sabotage our campaigns; they don’t want us to use the Tononoka grounds in Mombasa. When we ask for reasons, we are told that the president will be in Mombasa,” he said.
