George Nene, Elementaita Member Of County Elect (MCA) who campaigned with only one shirt got another blessing from a Nairobi-based designer Derrick Davis K’ogayo after seeing his story.
Nene was vying on the Safina Party ticket and was considered as an outsider who everyone knew that he had a very slim chance to be elected as an MCA of the area.
The Egerton University graduate garnered 4,310 to send the seasoned politicians packing.
“I was chided, ridiculed, and called all manner of names… At one time, I received threats after bookmakers started giving me an outside chance of making it,” he said.
After his victory, blessing started to follow him after a renowned designer who dresses the who-is-who in society has offered to dress him up for his inauguration day.
Mr. Nene, who campaigned on the donkey-drawn cart, has gotten the offer from Nairobi-based designer Derrick Davis K’ogayo who dresses the who is who in society including journalists, politicians, and businessmen.
Davis K’ogayo dresses personalities like Citizen Tv Journalist Stephen Letoo, Migori Governor elect Ochillo Ayako, and former Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter among others.
Speaking to one of the local media stations, Davis said that he was impressed that the MCA-elect did not give up despite the jibes and mockery and running against the well-oiled opponents.
“Despite his humble background, he has proved to the world that everything is possible when you believe in yourself. That’s a guy who needs support and the only way I can do it is by handing him over the suit and a pair of shoes,” he said.
Mca elect said that his opponents and political pundits dismissed him as a joker.
“My opponents were surprised but I was not. I had done my homework well and knew I would cause a major upset and it happened,” he said.
