Ferdinand Omanyala has finally been granted a Visa to the United States after days of stress and frustration.
The African record holder is expected to leave the country today Thursday 13th July to the United States a few hours before his race.
“I can confirm that we have managed to get a 6 pm flight for Omanyala and he will arrive just in time for his race,” Athletic Kenya Executive committee Member Benard Korir said.
The 100m race is on the cards on the opening day of the Championship, with the preliminary rounds set for 10:30 pm. Due to his time of 9.85secs clocked at the Kip Keino Classic, Omanyala heads straight to the heats which start at 4:50 am Kenyan time.
He is set to represent Kenya in the men’s 100m with the preliminary round set for tomorrow.
His expected Time of Arrival (ETA) is at 4 pm Oregon time, which is 2 am Kenyan time, only two and a half hours before his race.
