On Friday 2nd September Kenyans were treated with pictures of a Kenyan lady stuck in one of the Gulf Countries Saudi Arabia.
The pictures of Diana Chepkemoi, a student of Meru University went viral after it was reported that she was sick and being starved by her employers.
Chepkemoi had traveled to Saudi Arabia to look for work and money and to sustain her family and also to pay hospital bills for her ailing mother and her School fees.
Things didn’t go as planned as she fell into the trap of slavery after she was held against her will by her employer who had taken her passport and phone.
Through the pictures shared online, you could see how thin she was growing and she was still being forced to work.
The photos attracted reactions from netizens who had called on the government and the relevant authorities to take action and bring the girl back home.
Fortunately, the reports reached the Cabinet Secretary for Labour Simon Chelugui and PS Tum of the Ministry of Labour.
It is reported that she has since been picked up by the authorities for medical attention and an assessment will be done to assess if she can travel back to Kenya.
