KUSO Chairman Anthony Manyara now claims that fired Kenyatta University Vice-Chancellor Prof Paul Wainaina was an oppressor who denied many students at the prestigious university a chance to succeed in their education.
Manyara alleged that in many instances, comrades would complain of draconian laws being implemented under the supervision of professor Wainaina which were meant to punish students. He added that it was under Prof. Wainaina’s regime that many comrades were expelled from the institution due to orchestrated witch hunts.
”Let this be a reminder to all rogue VCs that no power is permanent. Oppressing comrades may be at play, but not for long.We have witnessed VCs impose draconian policies, amend bylaws, expel comrades, excommunicate the innocent, orchestrate witch-hunts, frustrate lives, stress comrades and above all, indirectly deny them the right to education” stated Manyara.
He added, ”Further, some have made its existence an uphill climb on Campus. Blatant sins range from exorbitant fee Increment, overhyped accommodation fees, high food prices, poor living conditions, and empowering staff to oppress comrades further. Let it be a reminder that education processes ought to be sustaining; comfortable and reassuring”.
During the commissioning of the WHO emergency hub, President Kenyatta accused the VC of protesting the hub project arguing that the land belongs to Kenyans and not individuals.
“Kenya is a respected member of the global community and we are recognized as a very strong supporter of multinational institutions. We led UN-Habitat and UNEP nad that is why we want WHO here,” Uhuru stated.
“You are claiming that this is your land yet this same land is owned by Kenyans. You want to hinder this project but I still have three more weeks in office, we shall deal with those individuals swiftly and effectively. I will go home with them,” he warned.
