Ministry of Foreign Affairs Principal Ambassador Macharia Kamau has said that Kenyans ignore warnings against going to work in the Gulf Countries like Saudi Arabia.
He was replying to a tweep who questioned what the government of Kenya was doing to end the recurring cases of ladies suffering in the Gulf Countries.
The issue came after the outcry of Diana Chepkemoi, who was being mistreated by her employers in Saudia Arabia went viral on social media.
Macharia Kamau said that Kenyans have been warned to stop shipping workers to harsh Saudi Arabia but they do not listen.
“For how long will our sisters continue being enslaved in the middle east? Does it have to always get here for Govt to intervene? How many lives have been lost in the past?
“Still, do these rogue agencies that send these young girls out there exist? What is being done?” A Twitter user by the name of Liz Ntonjirah asked.
And the Ps Macharia Kamau replied, “We have told Kenyans repeatedly to stop sending this category of workers to Saudi. You’ve chosen not to listen.”
