Homa Bay governor Gladys has ordered a 15-day tax exemption for Homa Bay County business effective today Wednesday, 14th September 2022.
The county government will use this opportunity to identify the loopholes contributing to a low revenue collection during the time period, and a 13-member multi-agency task force will be developing strategies to increase revenue collection.
Governor Wanga has pointed out that the rates at which revenue is collected continue to oscillate, pointing out that the county had projected to collect Ksh 300,000 by the end of 2022 but now claims it can do Ksh 1 billion in the same time frame.
“After my inauguration, I sought an update from relevant offices on the financial health of the county,” said Wanga as quoted by Business Daily.
“We have seen a fluctuation that points to a breach in the system of revenue collection. There is no point in people paying money that does not reach the county”
