It is clear to everyone in the country that former deputy president William Ruto is the new President-elect in Kenya. Ruto is set to be inaugurated as the President if a court petition will not be brought to challenge his presidency.
Even if a petition is brought and the court rules it out, Ruto remains the President. That aside, the question on every Kenyan’s mind is whether they will deliver on their promises.
The duo made a turn of promises to Kenyans but let’s focus on what Rigathi Gachagua promised. In a series of rallies, he made many promises on behalf of Kenyan Kwanza.
He promised people that he would sell Jomo Kenyatta International Airport if they ascend to power. he questioned why private entities like JKIA and Safaricom were making so much money. He said he will sell the companies and distribute the spoils to “hustlers”.
While on a campaign in Githurai, he promised the residents to rename Kenyatta University to Githurai University. we all know of his recent court cases that he had his assets amounting to ksh 200M frozen. he said is first business in office will be to recover this money.
Gachagua is even on record saying that their government will not recruit military service men from the region that dont support them. ours is just to wait and see if the money from mathira will deliver on this promises but imagine Kenya without JKIA and safaricom.
It will also be good to note how Kenyans have matured in democracy and cleared showed the world that elections come and go.
