Musician Otile Brown has opened up about his real identity
Speaking when he was hosted for a Radio Interview, the Coast-based musician said he is a Luo.
He went further to defend his reasons for hiding his identity since he did not want to be associated with a certain tribe.
Otile said on a lighter note that Luos are always full of pride and cannot stop boasting over someone from their side.
“I’m a Luo, I have a Luo blood but I used to hide that until it got to a point it became baseless… Luos are so proud, in this case, they couldn’t stop saying I’m a Luo… My official names are Jacob Juma Obunga,” he said.
He added that he grew up in Mombasa and even there he had to hide his identity to tribal conflicts.
He said he was concerned with his music career more than anything.
“I hid my identity for a while because having been born to Luo parents but raised in the Swahili community, I didn’t want to be caught between tribal issues yet my talent is more important than representing regions or a tribe,” he added.
Obunga who is currently not dating said that after being successful in his music career, it is not easy for him to differentiate between genuine and fake love.
“I’m single at the moment. Being in this position right now, you don’t know whoever you are meeting if they’re sincere or not. If I get a real person I would settle down,”
Otile dated Socialite Vera Sdika whom they later parted ways and later met a Nabayet from Ethiopia.
He also confirmed that they are no longer together with her Ethiopian girlfriend after dating for a couple of years.
He said that the last time they were seen together, they were trying to figure out their issues but later decided to part ways amicable.
“Nabbi and I are not together anymore… The last time we were together was to try and figure out the way forward but we decided to go our separate ways, unfortunately,” he said
“She’s an amazing person and ,for that I will always respect her, care for her and be cool with each other. Wishing her nothing but the best moving forward,” he concluded
