The government of Kenya yesterday introduced Free Wi-Fi at Nairobi’s City Market by Information, Communication, and Digital Economy CS Eliud Owalo.
The free hotspot is expected to facilitate business transactions in the area.
The launch was part of President William Ruto’s promise and effort to transform Kenya into a globally competitive digital economy.
“It is our vision to create a reliable and secure high-speed digital infrastructure for the public, as the avenue envisaged for Kenya’s digital transformation,” Owalo said.
The free wi-fi initiative is expected to be launched across the country with the target of putting up to 25000 hotspots.
Also, 10,0000 fibre optics is expected to be constructed countrywide to move toward a digitized country.
