Police in Kakamega County is investigating a case where a 50-year-old man from Ebungaya village took his own life after an altercation with his wife.
The lifeless body of one Ezra Skim was found dangling on a tree in the wee hours of Tuesday morning after he was reported missing on Monday night.
One of the residents said that Skim’s body was discovered on Tuesday morning.
“A rope had been tied around his neck, we suspect he hanged himself,” Chris Namasake said.
Confirming the incident, Khayega OCS Elizabeth Kagehi who urged members of the public to embrace alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
Skim’s sister Jetina Tegeno said that his brother has been complaining of domestic abuse before his demise.
She said that her brother was always complaining that his brother also complained about his wife denying him conjugal rights.
“In his last days, he (Skim) appeared stressed. He has been accusing his wife of mistreating him”, Tegeno said.
Maximila Anyila, the wife of the late recounted what happened before he stormed out of the house on Monday night and banged the door behind him, and never returned.
“He suddenly came out of bed as we were sleeping, with no explanation he headed outside and bang the door behind him. We were shocked to find his body dangling from a tree,” she said.
His body was transferred to Mukumu Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
