Veteran journalist Leonard Mambo Mbotela, a household name in Kenyan media, has died at 83. His family confirmed that he passed away on the morning of February 7, 2025, after a period of illness.
His demise was confirmed by his daughter-in-law, Anne Mbotela.
Mbotela, renowned for his legendary Je Huu ni Ungwana show, shaped Kenya’s broadcasting industry for over five decades. His voice narrated key historical moments, including the 1982 coup attempt.
