Leader of the NARC-Kenya Party, Martha Karua has denied calling Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and KANU chairman Gideon Moi traitors.
This comes after Kalonzo and Gideon signed a political agreement with Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja coalition. Karua claimed she had been sidelined and was not involved in coalition negotiations.
Martha Karua was quoted by Nation newspaper saying Wiper and Kanu had betrayed other political parties in the collapsed One Kenya Alliance (OKA) even as she says that doors have not been slammed for her both in Azimio la Umoja and Kenya Kwanza.
But The Iron Lady slammed the Nation for publishing the article, claiming that she did not say those words and calling it a “deliberate distortion.”
“Shame on you for deliberate distortion. These are your words, not mine! I dare you to post the video,” she wrote on Twitter.
And while appearing on NTV on Monday, KARUA declined to terminate the action by her OKA partners as betrayal, noting that everyone was at liberty to do as they wish.
“As NARC-Kenya we cannot hold anyone back. I don’t want to use the word betrayal because we all had the freedom to opt-in or out of OKA. So it is their right,” she said.
Karua, who is seeking to be the next Governor of Kirinyaga County, maintains that she is comfortable in NARC-Kenya and is still open to negotiations with like-minded political players.
Already Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has asked Karua To team up with Deputy President William Ruto at Kenya Kwanza. He has even proposed her to be the running mate of Ruto in the forthcoming elections
”To my good friend and soul mate Hon Martha Karua. We can not make ourselves ideal humans from clay. We can only live with the ones God gave us, with all their imperfections and frailties. Pick a side and put it on your Jersey. I look forward to an imminent Ruto-Karua ticket to save this country from eternal dynastic domination and give hope to millions of children who went to school barefooted. If you decide otherwise you will remain my sister, my senior, and my friend” said Kuria
