Migingo Girls High School in Nyando Sub County has been thrown into mourning after their Deputy Principal Head Teacher Mrs. Roselyn Nyawanda was allegedly killed by her son.
The sad incident that has shocked many, the son had son reportedly set his mother’s body on fire moments after committing the despicable act.
Nyanza Regional Police Commander Karanja Muiruri who confirmed the incident said that the son was arrested and detained awaiting interrogations.
“The matter is still under investigation. The deceased’s body has been transferred to a mortuary awaiting an autopsy, we are currently holding the deceased’s son at Ahero police station as we find out what exactly transpired,” he said.
Reports from the witnesses revealed that the deceased’s son has been struggling with a mental disease and had just returned from the hospital.

Another source who did not want their identity revealed said that there was a lot of commotion in the deceased’s house but upon arrival, they found the school’s deputy’s lifeless body which had been partially burned.
“It is an unfortunate incident. We have lost a hardworking teacher, dedicated to her work and a role model to many,“
The suspect used a kitchen knife to stab his mother before lighting some of her clothes and closing himself inside one of the bedrooms.
The body was taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.
