Miguna Miguna has arrived at the Kisumu ahead of his homecoming and thanksgiving ceremony.
Upon arrival at Kisumu International Airport, Miguna was received by former Kisumu Senator Fred Outa who gave him a heroic arrival. Miguna motorcade drove straight to the ACK Maseno East in Ahero for a prayer service.
The visit comes after a four-year absence from the country following his forced exile in Canada in March 2018.
The church service is presided over by Bishop Joshua Owiti. The essence of the service is to thank God for aiding the return of the lawyer.
The senator called on the residents of Kisumu to accord Miguna a befitting welcome devoid of any violence.
Speaking to journalists upon his arrival, Miguna Miguna expressed gratitude to his supporters for according him a warm reception on his grand return.
“I am extremely grateful to everyone here for welcoming me to my home. I am from Kisumu county, the former Nyanza province. I understand that some people, in my absence, were saying that I am not a citizen of Kenya. I know everyone knows that that’s false,” he stated.
The accomplished lawyer, who holds Canadian citizenship, noted that Kenya must be governed by the rule of law.
“As I arrive in Kisumu, I would like to state and underline the significance of the rule of law and the principle of constitutionalism. This country must be governed by the rule of law. Everything that is done in this country must be guarded by law.”
“The constitution of Kenya specifically prohibits torture, forced exile, illegal detention, unlawful arrests and persecution. All these ills were perpetrated against me for the last 4 years. We will seek justice,” he said as he revealed that he was proceeding to his hometown, Ahero, for a church service.
Miguna also thanked President William Ruto’s government for upholding the law by facilitating his return.
