Nominated Senator and UDA aspiring Nairobi Women Representative Millicent Omanga has found herself in trouble after an American pastor accused her of conning him Ksh 28000 thousand that he had paid as a deposit for one of the houses he rented in Kisii county.
The pastor said that he had rented a house at Nyamataro apartments owned by the Kenya Kwanza politician on 15th January, where he also paid Ksh 56,000 deposited including a deposit of Ksh 28000 and a deposit for one month of rent.
David Smittkamp who is married to a Kenyan woman occupied the apartment for two months from January to March.
The US-based pastor of the Church of love said that he was told that he would be refunded his 28,000 deposit once he decided to exit the apartment on the condition that he leaves the house in good condition.
“The caretaker told me he would give me the money as soon as the senator wired to him, but he has not received that amount to pay me since March,” he said.
He went ahead and narrated that after his time to leave for the United States reached, he called that caretaker on the way forward regarding his deposit and he was told that they were going to give him back his full deposit since he left the house in perfect condition.
He waited until 16th April but the money was still not in his account, he decided to do a follow-up and the caretaker assured him that the money would hit his Mpesa account anytime.
“It has been three months since I was told the money will be reimbursed and I have not seen such a thing,” he said.
Vincent, the caretaker could not explain why the money had not been sent to Mr. Smittkamp as promised if the Senator does not send him the money as they had promised then will ensure to send him half of the deposit after a week and clear the balance by end of May.
” I will ensure I give half then again earlier next month (May) I give another half. This is because it stresses me a lot” the caretaker said.
Millicent Omanga in her response to the accusations said that she does not recall the matter and referred the pastor to deal with the caretaker and the agents.
“I do not recall such a matter, I honestly do not remember such a thing, but being an issue of rent and deposit Smittkamp should contact the apartments agents, whom I am sure will handle the matter,” she concluded.
