Kimilili Member Of Parliament Didmus Baraza who is wanted for murder has surrendered himself to the Bungoma Police Station.
The legislature is wanted after he allegedly shot dead his opponent’s aide on Tuesday evening.
He surrendered a day after the Director Of Criminal Investigations(DCI) had given him a six-hour ultimatum to surrender himself to the nearby police station.
“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations is warning Hon Didmus Barasa, who has since gone into hiding after the brutal murder of one, to surrender to the nearest police station within the next 6 hours,” DCI said.
Failure to surrender the DCI said that they would launch a manhunt to smoke him from the hideout he has been searching for the last three days.
“A specialized team of sleuths based from the elite Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau and the Homicide department has been dispatched to augment the teams on the ground for his manhunt,” stated DCI
Didmus is accused of shooting his opponent’s aide Brian Khaemba who was seeking to unseat him from the Kimilili MP seat on Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) according to the reports, went to the Chebukwabi polling station at around 6 pm to witness the counting of the votes.
According to the reports received by wembe.co.ke, Mr. Khaemba while on his way to his car “Didmus Barasa followed him in the company of four men and ordered them not to allow him (Mr. Brian Khaemba) to leave…”
Khaembas’s driver Joshua Naskho defied Didmus orders and ignited the car.
“Didmus Barasa withdrew a pistol and aimed at Mr. Khaemba’s aide namely Brian Olunga and shot him on the forehead where he profusely bled,” the police report reads.
“He was rushed to Kimilili Sub-County Hospital where he succumbed while undergoing treatment. Scene visited by the police accompanied by Scenes of Crime Personnel from Bungoma County, where the scene was processed and documented.” reports concluded.
