Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday 22nd July handed over the instruments of power to usher in the new administration.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has handed over the leadership of the East African Community (EAC) block to his Burundian counterpart President Evariste Ndayishimiye.
The ceremony to hand over the power was held today in Arusha Tanzania.
State House Nairobi in a tweet confirmed that the outgoing president was in Tanzania to hand over the power to the Burundian President.

President Uhuru challenged the leaders to let the citizens enjoy the freedom and the rights of nations coming together as one community.
“The citizens are looking to us to fast-track and implement programs and projects that will transform our region. While the EAC is ranked as one of the most integrated regional economic communities (RECs) in Africa, our citizens are yet to fully enjoy the freedoms and rights of integration.
“Therefore, our responsibility at all leadership levels should be to ensure that the objectives of establishing the community are on course,” he said.
