President Uhuru Kenyatta as he is set to leave office after ten years, he is going to receive the biggest retirement package among all Kenyan presidents.
According to the 2022/2023 budget report, the President will be receiving Ksh 72 million annually and it will increase to Ksh79.2 million in the 2024 financial year.
A monthly pension of 1.115 million shillings, house allowance of 332,000 shillings, fuel allowance of 216,000, 216,000 entertainment allowance, and 300,000 shillings in utilities as per the reports.
The amount that President Uhuru Kenyatta will receive is almost three times the golden handshake received by the late retired President Mwai Kibaki of Ksh25.2 million.
The Presidential Retirement Benefits Act, 2003, entitles a retiring president to a lump sum payment on retirement, calculated as a sum equal to one year’s salary for each term served as President.
President Uhuru Kenyatta will also get 4 cars which include two limousines that will be replaceable after every four years.
He will also get four drivers, four secretaries, four messengers, and bodyguards, and a fully furnished office.
