Kisii County senator Prof Sam Ongeri has quit Orange Democratic Movement ODM and join Democratic Action Party Of Kenya DAP-K. The seasoned politician is eying the Kisii County governorship. Ongeri was initially battling it out with Dagoreti North Mp simba Arati for the ODM ticket but has now decided to seek the mandate of the Kisii residence using the Wamunyinyi led party.
Ongeri was recieved at Chui House by DAP-K Secretary General and Tongaren MP Dr. Eseli Simiyu. the former Education Minister Was accompanied by a host of MPs, MCAs and aspirant from the county..
” Kisii Senator Prof. Sam Ongeri officially joins DAP-K. The veteran politician is leading a group of MPs, MCAs and aspirants to join the party at Chui House” tweeted the party.
The Professor will however still back Azimio candidate Raila Odinga for the presidency.
Several close allies of the Odinga are eyeing the Governor’s seat on the Orange party ticket but the exit of Ongeri leaves Dangoretti North MP Simba Arati with a big chance to fly the party’s ticket.
Other leaders eyeing the governor seat on the Azimio ticket include former CAS Chris Obure who is eyeing the Jubilee Party ticket.
Former South Mugirango MP James Omingo Magara is also eyeing the seat on the Jubilee party ticket.
Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Machogu is seeking the governorship on the UDA party.
