In what may come as an unexpected turn of events today by William Ruto. The Deputy President called a press briefing and invited International members of the press and made some serious allegations.
In the previous weeks, there have been leaflets doing rounds in the Rift Valley. According to residents, these leaflets were found anywhere in the towns of the Rift valley. The leaflets are said to contain threatening messages to residents residing in the region and especially those who are originally not from Rift Valley.
The country security apparatus had previously made some eight arrests relating to these leaflets. The interior cabinet secretary Dr. Fred Matiangi addressed the press and gave an update on the arrest. Matiangi even went ahead to say that of those arrested none of them had any links with the President. This is contrary to some allegations by a section of Kenya Kwanza Leaders who had linked the president to the leaflets.
Minutes ago in another turn of events and an orthodox report different from what Dr. Fred Matiangi said. The DP has come forward boldly to give names of top government officials linking them to the same. According to Ruto, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Maalim Mohammed is among those behind the worrying leaflets. Other top government officials he has named are Mr. Samson Ojwang and Mr. Stephen Kihara.
The DP went ahead to say that the President is well aware of these acts by the officials. Ruto said that this move is meant to scare aware voters and result in a lower voter turnout in the region.
