A secret phone and CCTV footage are now at the center stage of investigations into the brutal murder of Mr. Daniel Musyoka, who was the Embakasi East constituency Returning Officer and staff of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Thursday, August 18, 2022, finally managed to get CCTV footage that captured the last moments of Mr. Musyoka.
The footage clearly shows Mr. Musyoka who was found dead on August 15th and his body dumped along the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro in Loitoktok, Kajiado County speaking to a bodaboda rider at 10:30 am on Church Road, Tassia in Embakasi East constituency.
A pillion passenger who was also on the motorbike spoke with Mr. Musyoka for some time before the motorbike left in the opposite direction.
The Returning Officer was left standing at the same place where he spoke with the duo for one minute and 30 seconds before he was seen answering a phone call.
He left and that was the last time he was seen alive.

A detective who is among the team investigating his death said that they are also trying to find out the secret phone number the deceased was using on that day before he disappeared.
“There is another phone that he was having and using on the day that he disappeared, it is believed that the phone number once it’s known will further give details of what might have taken place,” he said.
According to the reports, Mr. Musyoka’s phone signal was last traced to Mihang’o Utawala, Nairobi County.
“Currently, detectives want to know who is the bodaboda rider that was seen engaging with the rider and his pillion passenger.
Once we get them they will record statements which are believed to be key in the ongoing investigations,” the detective told Nairobi news.
