Former Nairobi County governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has once again offered to help the ailing boxer legend Conjestina Achieng after one of her videos went viral on social media.
Sonko dispatched one of his cars and his team to go and fetch the ailing boxer from her home in Siaya county in an effort to take her for prayer after all the rehabilitation efforts failed.
The former Nairobi County boss said that he spoke with Conjestina’s son and all he requested was for his mother to be taken for prayer.
“Through her Son, the family believes she needs prayers and is proposing taking her to Pastor Ezekiel. They have been appealing for help but none of our leaders has heeded their cry,” he wrote
“Good Morning fellow Kenyans, I’m truly saddened by this whatsap message from Conjestina’s son. Our leaders are busy campaigning while one of our shujaas who once made this country proud is currently languishing in poverty and needs help due to her ill health.
“I have singlehandedly helped her before, taken her to various hospitals and rehabilitation centers including Nairobi County rehabilitation center in Parklands, Diani Beach among others where she gets full recovery and discharged then when she gets back to shags after a while gets worse again,” Sonko added on his Facebook page.

This is one of the many efforts that the former governor has tried to assist the veteran boxer, Sonko took Conjestina to several rehabilitation centers including Nairobi County rehabilitation centers, Parklands, and Diani Beach among others.
He further said that even with all the efforts made, Conjestina still goes to her old habits whenever she’s back home to family.
In the latest video that went viral, the former athlete looked weak, pale, and hungry.
Despite making the country proud, Conjestina’s life remains a pity.
We should ask ourselves if we are still going to elect leaders who understand and appreciates our veterans.
