Step 1: Register on eCitizen
Firstly, you need to register for an eCitizen account if you haven’t already. This can be done by visiting the eCitizen website and following the registration process.
Step 2: Complete the Online Application
Once registered, log in to your eCitizen account and navigate to the Directorate of Immigration Services section. Here, you will find the option for passport application. Read the instructions carefully and fill out the application form.
Step 3: Document Preparation
Prepare all the necessary documents required for the application. This includes:
– A duly filled application Form 19.
– Original Birth Certificate and a copy for citizens of Kenya by birth.
– Certificate of Registration for citizens of Kenya by registration.
– Original applicant’s national identity card and a copy for adults.
– Copies of parents’ national identity cards or death certificates where applicable.
– Original and copies of parents’ birth certificates.
– Additional documents as may be required.
Step 4: Payment of the Prescribed Fee
Select the mode of payment and pay the passport fees. The fee structure can be found on the eCitizen portal.
Step 5: Booking an Appointment
After payment, you will need to book an appointment for submission and biometrics. This is done through the eCitizen portal.

Step 6: Print Application Forms and Receipts
Download and print the completed application form along with the payment invoices.
Step 7: Submission and Biometrics
On the date of your appointment, submit the printed application form, payment invoices, and all the required documents at the Immigration office. You will also have your biometrics taken on this day.
Step 8: Passport Collection
After successful submission and biometrics, you will be informed of the progress of your application via SMS and email. Once your passport is ready, you will collect it from the Immigration office.
