Kenyan eyes are glued on the supreme court and are awaiting their opinion concerning the elections. Well, they didn’t have to wait for long as the supreme court already gave Kenyans their opinion.
In a long statement through their Twitter account, the spokesperson of the judiciary L.M Wachira had the following to say. “Take notice that should any presidential election petition be filled, the same shall be exclusively at the supreme court sub-registry located at Forodha House adjacent to Milimani law court, along Upper Hill Close Road.”
He continued by saying that. “Take notice that under Rule 7(3) of the Supreme court over Presidential election petition rules 2017. Where the petition is filed on the last available day of filling, it shall be before 2 pm of that day.”
This statement comes after leaders of the Azimio La Ummoja One Kenya Alliance stated that they will not accept the presidential results. The leaders led by the chief agent to Raila Odinga, Saitaboi Ole Kanchory claimed that the system was hacked.
In her remark on Twitter. Raila Odinga’s running mate Martha Karua went ahead to say. “it’s not over.” this can be concluded that the coalition will got to court to seek the nullification of the results.
Wafula Chebukati on the other hand while making the statement made it clear that this was his last time as the chairman of the commission. Chebukati who has faced criticism said that he will not wish to play that role again.
As Kenyans are waiting for what the Azimio side will do. William Ruto on the other side has received congratulatory messages from different heads of state. This includes Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, and Somalia.
