Three suspected kidnappers were on Wednesday 1st June arrested after demanding sh 100,000 from Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris.
The campaign agent was held hostage in Kabarage Estate in Nairobi by a group who demanded sh100,000 from the MP before releasing him.
According to the police report, the agent was held hostage on June 1st, before the abductors made calls to Passaris prompting her to report the matter to Gigiri Police Station.
After reporting the matter to the matter to the police, the abductors continued to engage Passaris in negotiations directing her to a bar along Waiyaki Way where she had been directed to hand over the money before the release of her agent.
The detectives who had accompanied the legislature were smart enough and went undercover to arrest one of the kidnappers who was waiting for the ransom money.
The suspect was arrested and interrogated before he took the officers to where his colleagues were hiding where they arrested two more suspects as others escaped the Wednesday night raid.
The three suspects will be arraigned in court to face abduction and extortion charges as the hunt for more suspects continues.
In March this year, Passari’s the Mp’s convoy was attacked while in the campaign trail in Westlands Constituency near Deepsea slums, Nairobi.
Passaris then called on officials to intervene.
“Our convoy is under attack. We are in Westlands near Deepsea. Help. The thugs have taken our truck keys and are demanding money to give back our keys,” Passaris tweeted.
