The Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ezekiel Mutua has called on subscribers who unscribed from Sauti Sol Youtube channel to come back terming the reaction as juvenile.
Taking to his social media platform, Mutua said people may have differences of opinion but unsubscribing from the Youtube is juvenile adding that Sauti Sol remains one of the greatest bands in Kenya’s history.
He further urged Kenyans not to be blinded by politics to the point of hate.
“We may have differences of opinion, but unsubscribing from @sautisol YouTube channel is juvenile reaction. Rudini haraka,” he posted.
He continued: “Sauti Sol remains one of our greatest bands in Kenya’s history and we must not blinded by politics to the point of hate,”
He reiterated that Sauti Sol should have used the adaptation of “Extravaganza” by Azimio to create an “unbwogable” like Gidi Gidi Maji Maji did in 20002.
“And on a brighter note, Sauti Sol should have used the adaptation of “Extravaganza” by Azimio to create an “Unbwogable” moment like Gidi Gidi Maji Maji Maji did in 20002,” he added.
The former Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) Boss said said some moments come once in a lifetime saying he Ould rather have “Extravaganza” and “Sipangwingwi” being played in the political rallies by the top politicians than foreign songs.
The four boy band took the issue with with the political outfit after it played one of the band’s songs at an event without their consent.
Sauti Sol’s Extravaganza tune was played on Monday 16 when the outfit unveiled Narc Kenya’s Martha Karua as the presidential running mate to Raila Odinga.
The band cited copyright infringement, threatening to file a legal suit against Azimio One Kenya Alliance.
Their decision angered a section of Kenyans who are supporting Raila Odinga led political side who mobilised themselves and unsubscribed from Sauti Sol’s YouTube channel.
