An Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission staff who was reported missing has been found.
Mr. Japheth Dido, who was contracted by the electoral commission in the Information and Technology (IT) section had gone missing on August 18, 2022, before the matter was reported the following day at Kilimani Police Station under Occurrence Book Number 39/19/08/2022.
“We are okay and he (Mr. Dibo) is at home, there is nothing to worry about,” his wife Flora A Aluoch told Nation on Saturday.
His lawyer Mr. Trevor Lichuma told Nation that his client was abducted on Thursday by unknown people at 10 pm and was released on Friday at 2 pm.
Dibo who owns Dial Africa an IT Firm, had been contracted with IEBC as an Independent consultant during the election period, at the time, worked in his office which is located at the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) Towers along Ngong road Nairobi County.
“Detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are investigating the matter and we hope they will get to the bottom of it all,” he said.
His wife Flora Aluoch said that his husband had left his office and escorted an unknown guest and never returned home.
She told the police that her husband at that time was wearing a navy blue shirt and a navy blue pair of trousers.
The incident comes days after IEBC Embakasi East Returning Officer, Daniel Musyoka was found dead at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro Oloitoktok Kajiado County after missing six days.
The police who visited the scene said that the returning officer had been tortured before he was murdered.
They also revealed that the deceased must have been killed from somewhere else before he was dumped there.
The body was identified at the Loitokitok sub-county mortuary by his sisters, Mary Mwikali and Ann Mboya, according to the police.
“The body of the deceased, vide my earlier OB no 20/15/08/2022 has been identified as of one Daniel Mbolu Musyoka by his sisters, namely Mary Mwikali and Ann Mboya at Loitokitok sub-county mortuary,” the police report read.
The 53-year-old IEBC returning officer went missing on August 11th a few minutes after he excused himself to go and pick up a call while on duty at the tallying center East African School of Aviation in Embakasi.
IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati in a media briefing on Friday night said the returning officer the IEBC official was last seen at the East African School Of Aviation tallying center where was escorted by his bodyguards.
