Former Daily Nation managing editor Joe Kadhi is dead.
According to his family, the veteran journalist died at the Nairobi hospital.
Due to his advanced age and prolonged hospitalization, reports indicate that Joe may have passed away from an unidentified ailment.
Joe has been eulogized as the godfather of print media as he has experience of over 20 years in the industry.
Media professionals and netizen who knew him have sent their messages of condolences and best wishes to his entire family, wishing them peace during these tough times.
“Sad day; veteran journalist Joe Kadhi has passed on. We have lost a mentor, professional guardian, legendary trainer, and pioneer of the golden generation, “ Linus Kaikai tweeted.
Kadhi had lectured in various institutions including the University of Nairobi (UoN), United States International University Africa (USIU), and Addis Ababa University.
One of his former students Teddy Otieno remembered Kadhi for his articulate mastery of objective reporting which transcended print journalism.
“He was a great man. The phrase ‘publish and be damned,’ his mastery of the cardinal role of objective reporting and the nuts and bolts of journalism, will forever have a place in the history of media practice in Africa,” Teddy concluded.
He will be buried today Thursday 30th June, according to Muslim customs.
