A Fake GSU officer, Mwendo Mailu, who claimed to be dating Youtuber Eve Mungai has been arrested. Mailu is being detained at the Kileleshwa police station. Mailu had earlier alleged that he dated Eve Mungai and later left him for a mubaba.
Speaking today in a media briefing, Eve Mungai’s advocate says that the accused will be charged with defamation.
“Mailu is facing charges of impersonation of a police officer, threatening my client and also publication of unprintable words together with publication of a video that he claims that he had a relationship with my client…” among others.
The advocate added that some companies have been threatening to discontinue working with Eve over the viral video.
“My client has made her brand over the years via sheer hard work and she feels that anyone who has the intention to jeopardize that, the law has to take its course.”
“Mailu’s electronics have been confiscated and are undergoing forensic analysis awaiting plea taking on Monday.”
The advocate says that Mailu’s plea for forgiveness was a mere joke.
“In any case the video I have seen of the apparent apology is not as impactful as the same defamatory video that he made. The video that he claims is an apology is a mere joke.”
The suspect will appear in court on Monday, 10th October 2022.
