Bangbet Kenya Launches “Changing Lives” Initiative with Ksh 1M Hospital Fund and Community Empowerment Gifts
Nairobi, Kenya – July 5, 2025 – Bangbet Kenya has officially launched a major corporate social responsibility initiative, Changing Lives – Powered by Bangbet, aimed at supporting vulnerable hospital patients and empowering hardworking Kenyans with tools to improve their livelihoods.
The launch event, held at Lord Erroll Gardens in Runda, brought together key stakeholders including healthcare leaders, regulators, media representatives, and members of the public. In attendance were officials from the Betting Control and Licensing Board (BCLB), management of St. Mary’s Hospital, and recipients of the inaugural empowerment support package.
At the core of the initiative is the Bangbet Hospital Support Fund, which will provide assistance to patients detained in hospitals due to unpaid medical bills. Bangbet committed Ksh 1,000,000 to St. Mary’s Hospital, with the aim of helping patients — especially new mothers and road accident victims — return home after treatment.
“We’ve walked the wards. We’ve met the families. And we know we must do more,” said David Gichuchi, CEO of Bangbet Kenya. “This fund is not a one-time activity — it is a long-term commitment to walking with Kenyans in their most difficult moments.”
Sister Dr. Rose Nafula, CEO of St. Mary’s Hospital, welcomed the partnership, saying: “We are truly overwhelmed by this act of compassion. The Bangbet Hospital Support Fund is not just clearing bills — it is restoring hope, healing families, and giving people a second chance.”
Also unveiled during the event was the Friends of Bangbet recognition, through which a group of everyday Kenyans — selected from past field engagements — were gifted tools such as motorcycles, TVs, and other practical items to support household and income-generating needs.
“This is about offering tools that can unlock opportunity, ease the weight of daily life, and help Kenyans take their next step forward,” said Gichuchi.
The event was held in full compliance with BCLB regulations, with no promotional betting activities included in the program. Rev. Dr. Jane Mwikali Makau, Chairperson of the BCLB, praised Bangbet’s approach as a best-practice model for licensed gaming operators.
“This noble act is a shining example of the kind of impact we expect and encourage,” said Rev. Dr. Makau. “It also serves as an example for others in the gaming industry and beyond, that business done right is business that uplifts people.”
Bangbet has indicated that the Changing Lives initiative will be expanded over time, with more hospitals and communities set to benefit under its long-term CSR strategy.
