Beryl Itindi, a social media influencer and businesswoman, shared a poignant story that highlights the often untold challenges of pregnancy.
During a financially difficult period, Itindi experienced intense food cravings, a common yet sometimes amusing aspect of pregnancy.
She recounted an incident where, with only Sh20 in her pocket for her fare home, she faced a dilemma between satisfying her craving for a mango laced with red chili and her financial constraints.
Opting to take a matatu, she encountered a woman enjoying the very mango she desired.
“Pregnancy comes with cravings, but I thank God because my cravings were manageable. But one time, I was craving for a mango with chili. I only had Sh20, which was supposed to take me back home,” she told Youtuber Lynn Ngugi.
Overcome by her craving, Itindi asked the stranger for a piece, which led to the woman’s shocked and hasty departure from the matatu.
“I went and sat to the matatu and a lady came and sat next to me and she had that mango which had the pili pili and I turned to her and asked for a piece, the lady got shocked she stood up and took off,” she added.
This story not only sheds light on the cravings associated with pregnancy but also underscores the importance of support during this time, especially from the partners involved.
“Pregnancy changes a person in all aspects, and having a support system is crucial during this period,” she concluded.
